We are a Southern Baptist Church. For some people, that gives them great comfort because of our biblically conservative beliefs, doctrine, and association. For others, our denomination may be a little scary because of a previous experience or whatever. One of the best things about being Southern Baptist is that we are autonomous, and therefore we can choose to follow the lead of the convention or not.
The areas of strong alignment for us, are without question in the areas of doctrine, missions, and disaster relief. Southern Baptist Churches fund the 3rd largest disaster relief organization in the world, train more African American pastors than anyone else, and employ over 6,000 missionaries all over the world full time through a brilliant collaborative effort called the cooperative program. We’re quite proud of those things. That being said, for most people, we look more like a non-denominational church. Therefore, we have members from all kinds of church backgrounds, which include Presbyterians, Anglicans, Catholics, Methodists, Assemblies of God, and many others who exalt Jesus Christ as the Hope of the world. So, regardless of your church background, we hope you'll give us a try before deciding anything about us. You just might be surprised by what you find.
